AAA batteries are commonly used in small electronic devices such as TV remotes, MP3 players, and sex toys. Devices that require higher currents at the same voltage use larger AA batteries. AA batteries have three times the capacity of AAA batteries.

With the increasing efficiency and miniaturization of modern electronics, many products designed to use AA batteries are being replaced by models that accept AAA batteries. An AAA battery is 44.5 mm long and 10.5 mm in diameter. AAA alkaline batteries weigh approximately 11.5 grams each, while AAA lithium batteries weigh about 7.6 grams, and rechargeable (Ni-MH) batteries typically weigh between 14 and 15 grams.
